What is the Healthy Lifestyle Center?
The Healthy Lifestyle Center (HLC) is a free resource in the community that provides specific education and consultations for residents looking to improve their health. We have experts from exercise science, nutrition and dietetics, audiology, mental health, nursing, and social work! We help you develop and achieve your specific health goals for living a better life.
Where are you located?
You can find us at the Meridian Health Center, located at 100 N. Tillotson Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Parking is always free.
We will also be opening a new second location soon at the Health Professional Building (1613 W Riverside Ave, Muncie, IN 47303) on Ball State’s campus. See the ‘Locations’ tab for more information.
How do I get to the Healthy Lifestyle Center if I’m taking the MITS bus?
If you’re taking the MITS bus to the Healthy Lifestyle Center (HLC), take the Ball State University route (Red Route #1). Download a Ball State University route schedule here, or view all MITS routes and purchase bus passes at the MITS website. Do I need a doctor’s referral to get help from the HLC?
You can come to the Healthy Lifestyle Center by self-referral or you may also be referred by your physician. If your physician refers you to the HLC, our team will work with your physician to develop a plan that works best for your health needs and your personal goals.
How qualified are the HLC staff members?
The HLC was created by a group of experts from the Ball State University College of Health. Our areas of expertise include audiology, counseling, exercise science, health science, nursing, nutrition, speech pathology, and social work. We are working in collaboration with Meridian Health Services and The IU School of Medicine-Muncie, and when you partner with us, you will work one-on-one with a specialized team of Ball State University professors, BSU students, and IU medical students.
How much do your services cost?
When you partner with the HLC, our services are absolutely free.
Do I need insurance?
No. Services at the HLC do not require insurance coverage.
What if I don’t live inside Muncie city limits?
This isn’t a service just for Muncie residents. Because The Healthy Lifestyle Center is a community-based program, our team provides education and information to anyone who seeks our services—whether you live in Muncie, Delaware County, or far beyond.
